Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman

I’ve just finished reading “Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman” by Haruka Murakami. It is a collection of some of his older short stories that give a deeper insight into his very special world. Haruki Murakami is one of the few authors who can touch and move me in a way that is very intimate and (therefore?) almost frightening to me.

Although all his stories leave a sustaining resonance in me there is this one story in the book that left me awed and amazed with its wisdom and deep insight. This story is “Birthday Girl”. I won’t tell anything about it here, you’ll have to read it yourself. All I can say is that I hope that I would have made the same wish.
