The ugly face of power and vanity

Another story from the realms of the greatness of Chinese leaders. Wang Lili, a 52 years old photographer got sacked by the newspaper he was working for, the Tongzhou News, for causing a political incident. What political incident might that have been, I hear you ask? Well, Mr. Wang took this picture of district mayor Deng Naiping of the Tongzhou district in Beijing:

This photo, showing Deng Naiping giving a speech, outraged the district leader in a way that he used his substantial political muscles to get the photographer sacked. Talk about the abuse of power. So the vanity of this “leader” lost a man his job and his family the basis for their survival. Sorry, but sometimes this country makes me puke.

And it again shows the primitive mechanisms of political structures in China. Political incident? Apparently one man’s narcissism is more important than the welfare of the people he should be caring about and working for. And all of this did not happen in some backwater province in the west but in the proud Olympic capital itself. Welcome, nations of the world to the harmonious society of China.

The forced letter of resignation of Wang Lili.
